Today is Sunday 5th June and i have just completed my first Cancer Research Race for Life.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored me, i said at the start i would be happy if i raised £50.  When i looked last night i was over £500 so a big THANK YOU to you all.  If you havent sponsored it isnt too late. Go to www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/mrsmagrs and give generously so that in the future noone need die from this illness.

My Story.

I signed up to do the race for life after talking to my friend Rachael who has travelled her own cancer journey and did the race last year.

I signed up to race and a few days later found out that the docotrs planned to use chemotherapy drugs to treat my Crohn's Disease - well they say God moves in mysterious ways and i guess that proves it.

I worried after a few weeks of treatment that i might not be up to doing the race but when i realised how much sponsorship i had i told my mum"For £500 i will crawl if i have to!"

The race was a very moving experience and it was emotional to see people wearing the commemorative bibs with the names of people they had lost to cancer. It was also very inspiring to see the celebration bibs with the names of those hwo have fought cancer and won. I guess the idea for me was that one day all the bibs would be celebratory.

Mam and I decided that as we were a family she would wear the commemorative bib and i would wear the celebration bib. To celbrate the lives of those close to me who have fought and won i did a colourful bib with all their names in glitter so they shone as I walked.

Rachie was on my mind a lot as i walked since she was my original inspiration. She is doing her own race in July and you can sponsor her at www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/rachien

The route was up and down lots of hills through beautiful Herrington Country Park and it wasn't easy but I did the whole thing without having to hold on to my mam so I am very proud and am  still wearing my medal some hours later!

I did the race with Mam and Ashleigh a friend from my old work.  My hubby Mark, Dad Dave and Ash's fiance Dwayne came to support.

Thank You!

A big thank you to Mark for helping me toddle about in a bid to convince myself i could do the race.

To Mam and Dad for supporting me.  Mam for collecting sponsors and doing the race with me and Dad for driving, taking pictures and supporting.

To Ashleigh for walking with me and supporting and to Dwayne too.

To Rachie for inspiring me to do the race and to Sarah for pestering people to sponsor me.

Finally to all the people who sponsored me, the race would have been pointless without you!

Get your money ready i'll be round soon to get it!!
